I haven’t posted in a while as I took some time off from this blog to play catch up with life and other projects that are on my plate. So I want to take a moment to talk about the things we all could de to appreciate the journey we all are on for inspiration and improving our lives.
When you decide you want to pursue a big dream, you get excited and are ready to take on that goal, you’re focused in the mission to accomplish it and then all of a sudden you’re burned out and have lost your gusto. Well that was me this past week or two since I last blogged.
I realized I needed to take time for my self and go after my small dreams. These dreams consist of easy and obtainable goals. One of my dreams was to go on a shopping trip for a new wallet after work, and just be with myself.
My next dream was to take my son on a early birthday trip to an amusement park and the beach. Mission accomplished, we had a blast!
My little dream this week is to try something new! Just as simple as that.
I call them little dreams because we all think about something we want to do and accomplish. What makes life more fun is to give yourself a to do list of your little dreams and accomplish them as much as possible. Once you practice this, you’ll be surprised of how motivated you will get to continue on your BIG dream. Your mind will be clearer because you’ve raised your energy level to match the energy you need to fulfill your big goal. If for some reason you fall out of love with your big goal, don’t worry just enjoy the journey overall and continue to make little dreams and new big dreams will come true.
I am a big fan of listening to books online and I highly recommend listening to them if you’re an extremely busy person. I just finished this audio book called: Anything You Want by Derek Sivers.
Great listen for anyone who is aspiring to be and do more in their lives, and not just walk in a single file line of life.
It’s a great book not only for entrepreneurs but for everyone. Derek tells his story about how he launched his own small business and watched it grow and evolve, he had many success and failures along the way but perseverance and persistence and just running the company the way wanted was the key to his success
So I have been at my current job for about 3 months now and I work with great people, each one has a unique talent and I am continuing learning something from them.
Just in the past 4 weeks I have been working along side a coworker from overseas we’ll call him Jim and he has been our design freelancer long before I cam aboard the company, so he was invited to come on a work Visa in the office and meet with us all.
Jim and I have been talking about life situations and the general stuff most freelance traveling types talk about…life. One day I asked him about living the way he does, works as a design freelancer, travels around to work on projects with various companies and has no general interest in working with the company other than to create great products and work on things that really matter to him
His mentality about how he lives his life made so much sense to me and more natural than what I have been spoon fed about how our society interprets living.
His current idea of success is living basic, not material, not living with an accumulation of stuff and material possessions.
Working to live and enjoy the life during his youth and not waiting to be older and retired to finally live.
Having a passion to explore and meet new people and get out of your comfort zone.
I took some time to look at myself and not try to compare but to try to understand the way I think about the world as I know it.
Jim sent me this inspiring YouTube video yesterday which sums up the way he thinks. You may have seen this one it’s been around a while. If you haven’t seen it either way take a moment to listen to this guy’s experience.
My admiration for out of the box free thinkers like Jim will help me stay focused and motivated. I hope this video inspires you too.
So today at work I was sitting with a co-worker and we were discussing various topics and one of them happened to be an eye-opener for me, when you are confident within your self you don’t need an outside force to hold on to. You have your built in knowledge of what you need to do. The outside forces that are there to help you are just tools you can use to acquire your mission. I have heard this before, but now it made total sense to me! I found myself once again experiencing that spark of the Aha moment everyone seems to talk about when they hear exactly what they needed to hear at that precise moment. That happened to me.
You see I have always struggled with lack of confidence and low self esteem, much like many others out there in the world who know deep down in their souls that they are here on this earth to accomplish something bigger than themselves. Not just waste away on the sofa staring at their mobile phones, waiting for life to slap the phone out of their hands to see that there is a bigger picture in life besides what’s in their devices.
This week I decided to delete the phone apps for social media all except one. That I only use to goof of on and not really post anything important, more of a quick bit if fun. I must say that I don’t really miss social media! I get so much more joy working on important projects that will help build my future than the immediate gratification of what’s happening to someone I used to know.
My goals are now more important to me than ever before, I feel as if I am on a time clock that is skipping ahead to the end point of my existence, Being in my early 40s, I know that time is slipping and according to our society I need to count them as they will soon disappear and then I will be dead,
So my new mission in life is to create a life plan that will allow me to truly express myself and stay confident in not matter what is thrown my way. Yes, it is easier said than done but I know it can be done. I’m more inspired to take action from the knowledge that people offer.
Here’s a TED Talks from Inspirational speaker Peter Sage. The video is called “Stop Waiting for Life to Happen.” It’s a great listen and take what you need from it to help you stay motivated on your path. I know so many people who wait for life to happen and it never does because, life doesn’t wait for anyone, you have to jump aboard and ride the wave. I hope you enjoy this video and my post.
If you would like to share your AHA Moment! Please leave a comment below. I would love to hear your stories about how you started reliving life!
